About PenCambria
The Magazine
The broad aim of PenCambria is to provide a magazine full of history and traditional and contemporary culture relating to Mid Wales. Articles may be fact or fiction, so long as the distinction is clear. They can be about historical events, cultural traditions, folklore, biography, buildings, locations, places of interest, anything and everything that is of cultural interest to the people of Mid Wales. Religous and political history and traditions will be welcome, but no preaching or propaganda. Hopefully, eventually it will also include letters, competitions and a crossword.
The Editor
PenCambria is the brain-child of Gay Roberts, an experienced writer and editor and who has lived in Mid-Wales for 33 years. Having cut her publishing teeth with IPC, the publishing corporation giant, 35 years ago and been a part-time writer and editor for over 25 years, she conceived the idea of a magazine of this kind about 10 years ago when she belonged to the short-lived Writers Circle in Llanidloes. At about the same time she became editor of the newsletter of a specialist history-mystery research group focussed on the Languedoc area of France and wrote a concise guide to that effect in 1995 – The Da Vinci Code holds no mystery for her! She honed her publishing skills by turning this into a magazine full of articles provoking thought and interest. And she hopes to do the same with PenCambria.
